The dreary Saturday of September 22, 2007 was brightened by the presence of long-time stone conservator, Fred Oakley of the Association of Gravestone Studies. Here he demonstrates the need for soil probes (ordinary garden stakes) in determining the perimeter of a buried headstone base. He also is about to show us how to clean a stone using non-toxic household chemicals. |
